Welcome to the Loring PTO!

When your family joins the Loring School community, you become a part of the Loring PTO; a community of parents, teachers and school administrators joining together to enrich the educational and social experience of our students.

Parent involvement is critical to our success and there are a number of ways to get involved. If you are interested in learning more about the different opportunities available please email our co-chairs Heather Larson and Lauren Hargrove.

Thank You: Camp Fair

1/15/2026 2:57 am

It was wonderful to see so many Loring faces among the attendees at our annual camp fair this past weekend. Thank you for supporting our event - hopefully you found some great options for your students! If you missed out, you can still view the camp directory (including a few camps that were not able to attend in person this year) at https://www.sudburycampfair.org/camp-directory. And, if you register for a camp, please mention the Sudbury Camp Fair!

Huge thanks are in order for our Camp Fair Committee: Karen Lynch, Jacki Sousa, Jane Barbetti, and Anne Kranz. They worked behind the scenes for months to plan this event for our community, and, while doing so, raised a significant sum for the PTO. These funds have a direct impact on the PTO's ability to provide enrichment programs for our students - their efforts are greatly appreciated!

We are grateful to Jackie Harder, Russell's Garden Center, Sudbury United Methodist Church, Camp Sewataro, and Curtis Middle School for hosting lawn signs. A special thanks to Sudbury Farms for donating lunch for the camp staff and The Performing Arts Connection for donating swag bags. Finally, we are grateful as always to Shawn Maguire for his assistance with our (quite large) wooden signs.

SPECIAL NOTICE FOR 5th GRADE FAMILIES

The yearbook is always extra special for 5th graders, but we need your help to make it PAWSOME!

  • Send in a ONE baby picture by Jan 30th (minimum file size 500kb)

  • Send in “retro” photos by Jan 30th (Include grade at time of photo, minimum file size 500kb)

Email all photos and any questions to pawsomeyearbook@gmail.com.

Please email your photos by Friday, January 30th.

Volunteers Needed: Yearbook

1/15/2026 2:55 am

The Yearbook Committee is seeking volunteers to help with page layouts and photography. This is a very flexible, work-from-home position that requires no experience. You can choose to work on a specific grade-level collage or create a school-wide collage like "First Day Photos" or "Leopard Fest."

Please note that the bulk of this project is completed during March and April. Reach out to Jess Cannistraro with any questions.

SPECIAL REQUEST FOR 5th GRADE FAMILIES

The 5th grade year at Loring includes some extra special things--especially in the yearbook. The yearbook pages for fifth grade include larger portraits, retro pages, 5th grade fun, baby photos, and a 5th grade collage. We are looking for several volunteers to head up and complete the pages listed above in the 2025-2026 yearbook. There is a lot of flexibility with a yearbook volunteer role. One parent can do photography only and another can do layouts only, or if one chooses to do so, they can fill both roles. We will need several parent volunteers in order to keep these yearbook traditions in place. Please let me know if you have any interest in joining this project. It is a great opportunity to help out in a fun and creative way!

Donations Needed: Auction Items

1/15/2026 2:54 am

We're on the hunt for donations for the Loring Auction! Do you have something unique that you could donate to the auction? Some past ideas are: a weekend at a vacation home, a must-have product, culinary delights, tickets to a professional sports game, a "behind the scenes" experience, and more! We welcome donations from Loring families and we can provide a tax receipt for the value of your donated item or service. Please email loringauction@gmail.com for more information.

Staff Spotlight

1/15/2026 2:53 am

Our Staff Spotlight series is back, celebrating the exceptional educators and support staff who help Loring students thrive. You'll see these recognitions in newsletters, on the PTO Facebook page, and in the school lobby as a heartfelt thank-you to the people who make Loring extraordinary.

Reminder: Birthday Book Club

1/15/2026 2:52 am

Does your child have an upcoming birthday?! What better way to celebrate than to donate a book to the Loring Library in their honor? When you donate a book, a sticker is added to the inside cover to commemorate your child's special day! If you'd like to celebrate your child's birthday with a book, visit our Birthday Book Club webpage for more information.

Check out some of the book selections that the library is currently seeking (although there are MANY more options from which to choose!):

Scholarships may be available. Contact Karen Blumberg for more information.

Volunteers Needed: Lunch/Recess

1/15/2026 2:51 am

Every Friday, we will be looking for 3 volunteers per grade to help cover recess and lunch. This allows our classroom teachers to have consistent planning time each week. It's an easy volunteering opportunity if your schedule has flexibility during the day, and it's also a fun chance to see your kids and their friends during the school day!

If you are interested in volunteering, sign up at this link to help your child's grade! Please be mindful of how many shifts you sign up for at one time - we'd like to afford as many caregivers as possible the opportunity to help.

Before volunteering, make sure you have an active CORI form on file with SPS by checking in with Paula Saliga or Vicki Harrington in the front office. Additionally, please be sure to click here and review the orientation slides and click here to watch the training video. You will also need to sign a confidentiality agreement. These forms are available in the front office and can be completed when you check in for your first volunteer shift.

When you arrive at school to volunteer, please check in at the front office 5 minutes prior to your start time. This will allow you time to sign in, obtain a badge and proceed to the playground.

Can't make your shift? PLEASE try to find a replacement first. If unable, please email the Loring Office.
