Thank You: Staff Appreciation Week

5/14/2026 2:55 am

Last week, we celebrated our amazing Loring staff and teachers during Staff Appreciation Week with a special nod to Sudbury’s 250th birthday! Throughout the week, the staff lounge was filled with thoughtful treats and heartfelt thanks for all the people who help make Loring so pawsome. Staff enjoyed a “Snackle Box” snack bar, a beautiful build-your-own bouquet station to bring a little spring cheer, lottery tickets, a fun Sudbury-themed raffle featuring a gift basket filled with goodies from local businesses, and a delicious breakfast bar with baked goods and juices to wrap up the week. One of the sweetest touches was the personal notes of appreciation from students decorating the walls and reminding our staff just how loved they are. Thank you to Jessica Noble for coordinating, as well as the committee members who helped make the week so special: Amy KohenKatie RiordanCaroline ArchambaultStacy Barry, and Nicola Premock.

Creative Enrichment: 2nd Grade

5/14/2026 2:52 am

The 2nd graders had a wonderful visit from The Discovery Museum on Wednesday, May 13th. The Traveling Workshop gave the students a hands-on approach to "Physical Changes of Matter". The students explored solids, liquids, and gases. The best part included a dramatic demonstration with liquid nitrogen and dry ice to show phase changes, such as freezing items to demonstrate properties of solids.

Thank you to Christina Manuelian for planning this program and to the Discovery Museum for their presentation!

Creative Enrichment: 1st Grade

5/14/2026 2:51 am

The 1st graders were visited by local author David A. Kelly today to hear about his path to becoming a published author! They learned about his writing process (including character and scene development and research), his early setbacks, and more. Ask your 1st graders what "rubbing mud" is used for in Major League Baseball (to remove the glossy finish of a brand new baseball) and what sport was played on the moon in 1971 (golf)!

Thank you to Kim Kirby for planning this program and to David Kelly for his presentation!
