Social Action Projects

Kindergarten: Buddy Dog Drive

Each winter, the kindergartners ask Loring families to bring in donations for our local Animal Shelter.

1st Grade: Pan-Loring Challenge

First graders invite fellow students to ride laps around the Loring School and play games to support The Jimmy Fund.  This event will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017, 8-10 AM.

2nd Grade: Accept The Challenge

This event is devoted to helping our children celebrate differences, gain insight on dealing with challenges and learn ways we can support each other as a peer community.

3rd Grade: Valentines for Veterans

Every February, the 3rd grade classrooms decorate and write Valentines to Veterans. This is a school-wide project where the children create valentines that are then delivered to local area Veterans‘ Hospitals and to family members and friends who are veterans.

4th Grade: Bridges Together

This special project focuses on inter-generational appreciation.  The children and seniors spend one hour per week for 6 weeks, sharing their experiences. Lively discussions are had, dynamic group projects are developed, and friendships are formed, across generations.

5th Grade: Pajama Drive

The 5th graders collected new pajamas to donate to Cradles for Crayons.
