 This is a firm deadline as Staples shuts down the site after the deadline. SchoolKidz School Supply Kits Orders are due Tomorrow, Friday, May 18th.Several Loring parents have conducted cost comparisons of purchasing supplies through SchoolKidz versus on their own and the savings is significant.

On May 24th, Susan Thompson will visit the 2nd grade classes. Susan holds a PhD in Theater History and has merged her interests in performing and history by telling stories that offer an understanding of the cultures from which they spring. Her performance "This Shining Earth: Stories from Mexico" is told with masks, toys and instruments from Mexico and is followed by a hands-on session with the students. All Creative Enrichment programs paid for by the Loring PTO, which receives its support from you, the parents, and your generous contributions to the many fundraisers and events. Thank You!

SERF's Board of Directors has a few openings for new Board members and we are looking for parents from Loring with a passion for education to join us. SERF plays a critical role in the schools in Sudbury (K-12), supplementing school budgets with educational grants to keep our classrooms innovative and exceptional. The areas we have openings are Marketing and Communications, School Liaison(s), and Fundraising Initiatives. The Board holds monthly Board meetings (1st Monday of the month) September- June. Loring is participating in the SchoolKidz, Inc. back-to-school supply program again for school year 2012-2013. Check your child's red folder during the next few days for the brochure with the supply list for your child's classroom and for online ordering information. Please note that 3rd and 4th graders will need to separately purchase headphones to use with laptop carts. Also, supply kit costs differ for each grade. Orders can be placed online until Friday, May 18th. This is a VOLUNTARY program. However, you are expected to purchase the items on your child's class list whether you do it through SchoolKidz or not. The Softball Bonanza, played between the SPS teachers and the Curtis students, will be held on Friday, May 11th. It's at 5:00 at Curtis Middle School (raindate: May 18th). Please come and have a glorious time while contributing to the Wally Bell Scholarship Fund. Awards are given each year to LSRHS Seniors to help defray their college expenses. Tickets are $7 per person and $25 per family. It should be a great event.

Broomball last Friday night was a great success! Although the parents and Loring Staff defeated both the 5th grade boys and girls, a fun night was had by all. Thank you to our fifth grade captains: Daniel Kerrigan, Paige Maxwell, Mary MacKeen and Samantha Kateman for leading the students.
